This collection depicts a working cattle ranch in South Dakota. Cattle rancher, Lester Blomberg, was born in a sod house on his parents' homestead in 1919. He graduated from college and later taught in rural one room schools for 17 years. In 1943, he purchased the ranch where he currently lives today. He is a published poet and a quick wit. Within 15 minutes, he can compose and recite a poem, when given a subject by anyone in a room.
On June 1, I met Les and his family in South Dakota. Hours spent interviewing at the kitchen table, I learned more about the history of him and his ranch. I toured, photographed and painted the natural colors and scenes from life. This is a unique, rich story of an American hero...JOIN ME, on the incredible journey of discovery, as I add paintings to visually experience a "Biography in Paint".
